Nephilim - Taught about them as a child....

I'd been taught that Nephilim were descendants of fallen angels and humans. This ungodly union caused these great giant beings to be born. I'd been taught they were mean and common man feared them.

As an adult, these beings came to my mind again, and I thought, how plausible is it for them to have existed. I also wondered how plausible it was for a fallen angel to mate with a human woman? It sounded like sci-fi, but, I did some research and I'm still thinking about these mysterious beings. I've blogged about them frequently over the years:

It was this ancient legend of the Nephilim that piqued my interest when I was studying Egyptology. All those winged deities... And not only in ancient Egypt - just see the art of ancient Mesopotamia.

The legend is really ancient, and it is mentioned in the Old Testament too.

It was rather hilarious when Nephilim Quest 1 / Shadowhunter got the inevitable one-star troll review.

The name Shadowhunter brought to the troll's mind another book series that had nothing to do with ancient Egypt or time travel. Clearly the reader had not even read Nephilim Quest, but tried to cause harm to the review rate of the book. Well, the readers came to the rescue - and one of them said that the other writer (the troll was referring to) did not invent the Nephilim, "she only made them famous".

Well, anyone who had any knowledge of ancient myths or has read their Bible knows that the Nephilim were famous for thousands of years before any modern writer chose to write about them.

It is an interesting field of study, the Nephilim, the winged gods and goddesses, for sure.
